America In Black is a news coverage program from BET + CBS that aims to feature stories that are meaningful and representative of the Black community. To help generate awareness around the series, we designed a newspaper with featured topics from the shows, curated by BET. The newspapers were handed out by turn-of-the-century-style newsies that we styled and dressed, in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the Paramount building in Times Square. Across the three locations, we handed out 1000 newspapers and got coverage on CBS New York.
With the success of the first iteration, we built on this stunt by bringing the newsies to Piedmont Park in Atlanta and outside of the National African American Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC.
